Amenities and Events in Shap
Shap provides a range of places to stay; hotels and pubs, B&B’s, self-catering and bunk house accommodation as well as camping and caravan sites. The village has a range of places to eat including a cafe, fish and chip shop and several pubs.
The Memorial Park provides many recreational facilities; children’s playground, tennis court, outdoor gym, multi-use games area, small skate park, bowling green, a playing field and the highest open air heated swimming pool in England!
The Old Courthouse Community Centre and Art Gallery offers visitor information, free WiFi and internet access, a library link, regular live music and cultural events. The Exhibit ‘A’ Gallery holds regular exhibitions.
The Heritage Centre draws on the wealth of material kept in its archives to hold open days and create displays relating to different aspects of local history.
Shap Farmers’ and Makers’ Market takes place monthly (March – December) with a great variety of food and crafts, plus live music.
Village shows, agricultural shows, markets, sporting, music, drama and poetry events take place in Shap and the surrounding area throughout the year.
