Iron Hill Stone Circle

There are two cairn circles at Iron Hill - Iron Hill North and Iron Hill South. Iron Hill North has 19 low boulders around the base of a mound about one metre high in the centre. The stones are Shap granite, limestone and a dark igneous rock. A short distance away is Iron Hill South. Nine stones form a ring around the top of a low mound, with one stone about 2 metres outside the ring. Three other stones occupy the centre of the mound, with every stone but one being Shap granite.
