Mayburgh Henge
Eamont Bridge, Penrith, CA10 2BY.
A large and impressive Neolithic henge, much better preserved than King Arthur's Round Table. Its banks stand up to 3 metres, 10 feet high and unusually are constructed from pebbles from a nearby river.
Near the centre is a single standing stone. Old drawings suggest that it was one of a group here, with two more pairs standing at either entrance, but they have since been removed.
More information on Mayburgh Henge is available on the English Heritage website.
