The Marmalade Awards raise over £28,000 for Hospices around the World in 2022
The 2022 Marmalade Awards were a huge hit with marmalade makers from around the world raising £28,617.67. Organisers of this unique event were delighted to present Hospice at Home Carlisle and North Lakeland with a cheque for this amazing amount.
Rev David Wood, chair of Trustees of Hospice at Home Carlisle and North Lakeland, says “Hospice at Home wants to thank the Marmalade Festival for another magnificent contribution to our work in North Cumbria. It is very encouraging to have such continued support so thank you to everyone involved at Dalemain.”
The cheque presentation ceremony took place in front of Dalemain Mansion, with representatives from Hospice at Home including Rev David Wood and Mike Clementson. With a host of volunteer marmalade supporters who give up their time to enable this astonishing amount of money to be raised. Many of them have supported the Awards since their creation, and Mrs Jane Hasell-McCosh, founder of the Dalemain World Marmalade Awards said “It is wonderful to think that in spite of the pandemic and the difficulties in the world our Marmalade community has had another incredibly successful competition. The standards keep on getting better and the marmalade that is being entered now is very good indeed. However, none of this is possible without the generosity of the volunteer committee who help to unwrap, log, judge and arrange the displays”
This donation to Hospice at Home launches the 2023 Marmalade Awards and Festival. Entries can be sent to Dalemain Mansion from Monday 2nd January to Sunday 5th February. The Marmalade Festival will take place on Saturday 22nd April, with thousands of marmalades on display, Artisan marmalades to try and buy, talks, tours and a visit from the nation’s favourite bear! Sunday 23rd April will provide visitors with a unique opportunity to enjoy a cooked breakfast with a choice of 1,000 marmalades to spread on their toast.
The Awards take place with the generous support of Fortnum and Mason, Rathbones and Lycetts.
