The Wordsworth Way - a literary walking route between Glenridding and Ambleside
Launching on William Wordsworth's 255th birthday (7th April 2025), is a new walking route, The Wordsworth Way.
The Wordsworth Way is 14 miles long and traces some of the favourite walking routes of William and his sister Dorothy. Linking Glenridding and Ambleside, it can be walked in a day or section by section.
Variable difficulty and divided into 4 sections, the Way passes significant landmarks in his life. Part of the Coast to Coast Path, the Wordsworth Way is also linked to the Ullswater Way.
"The Wordsworth Way is a point-to-point walk, which can be undertaken as a single journey. However the guide breaks the journey into four separate stages, with one linear walk between Glenridding and Grasmere (Walk 1) and three circuits that take the wayfarer from Grasmere to Ambleside (Walks 2, 3 and 4)." The Wordsworth Way Guide, by Jade Cookson, will be on sale in local shops and information centres.
