Changing Places Toilets

Changing Places Toilets are available at Tebay Services Northbound and The Rheged Centre, near Penrith.

The Tebay North Changing Place is located directly behind the Filling Station, and Rheged’s facility is located inside the Filling Station, enabling motorists at both locations to drive and park near the facilities.  

The toilets offer a safe and clean environment and are equipped with a tracking hoist system, a height-adjustable changing bench, a toilet with enough space to allow two carers and a screen for privacy.

There are only 1,400 Changing Places toilets in the UK, and the facilities at Tebay Northbound and Rheged completes the Westmorland Family’s ambition to have Changing Places facilities at all its sites. These Changing Places have been made possible thanks to £100,000 government funding and support from Westmorland and Furness Council and the former Eden District Council.

Over 250,000 people rely on a Changing Places toilet in the UK to enable them to get out and enjoy the day-to-day activities many of us take for granted. Standard accessible toilets do not meet the needs of all people with a disability.
