Thursday 6 March - Dawdles Walk Hartley Lane and Swingy Bridge
We will follow the medieval Hartley Lane to Bollom Lane crossing the River Eden at Swingy Bridge.  There will possibly be a detour via Low Mill Bridge to avoid the closed Frank’s Bridge.  A chance to see the new footpath layout at Gramsceugh.  Optional refreshments in Kirkby Stephen.  Meet at The Cloisters 10:30am.

 

Friday 7 March - Legstretcher Smardale circular
Car share 2.9 miles to start of walk.  4.7miles/7.5km, 500ft/150m3.  Meet Christian Head car park 9:30am.

 

Thursday 13 March - Dawdles Walk Kirkbank and Slack Gap Lanes
North out of Kirkby Stephen towards Winton turning off at Slack Gap Lane and back through Hartley Fold. Optional refreshments in Kirkby Stephen.  Meet at The Cloisters 10:30am.

 

Thursday 20 March - Dawdles Walk Ravenstonedale circular
A walk through Ravenstonedale village. This walk may be adaptable for wheelchairs and small powered mobility scooters at their own risk, please contact us. We will arrange refreshments in the village.  Meet at The Cloisters 10:30am for car share 4.8 miles.

 

Thursday 27 March - Dawdles Walk Middlesike/Greensike Lanes
Walking along medieval green lanes to Sandwath with a refreshment stop at Owen’s Farm before returning to town.  Meet at The Cloisters 10:30am.

 

Thursday 3 April - Dawdles Walk Smardale Reserve
A walk through Smardale Nature Reserve to the viaduct and back to see spring flowers.  This walk may be adaptable for wheelchairs and small powered mobility scooters at their own risk, please contact us. Optional refreshments in Kirkby Stephen.  Meet at The Cloisters 10:30am for car share 4 miles.

 

Friday 4 April - Legstretcher Winder from Sedbergh
5 miles/8 km; 1200ft/400m.  Meet at Christian Head car park for car share 14 miles.

 

Thursday 10 April - Dawdles Walk Greenriggs circular
A walk to the west of the town taking in Bloody Bones, Tarn and Croglam Lanes.  Optional refreshments in Kirkby Stephen.  Meet at The Cloisters 10:30am.

 

Thursday 17 April  - Dawdles Walk Wharton circular from Stenkrith
Park at the NVT car park dropping down to the disused railway and picking up Hartley Lane to Nateby and the historic deer park.  Crossing over the River Eden to Wharton returning to Stenkrith along the river.  Optional refreshments in Kirkby Stephen.  Meet at The Cloisters 10:30am for car share 1 mile.

 

Thursday 24th April - Dawdles Walk St Theobald’s Church and Great Musgrave
A walk around the pretty hilltop village of Great Musgrave including St Theobald’s church next to the river.  Optional refreshments back in Kirkby Stephen.  Meet at The Cloisters 10:30am for car share 3 miles.

 

Dawdles walks should take about an hour unless otherwise stated -   Where there is a car share, allow for extra time to reach destinations and return. We usually find optional refreshments.

Legstretchers, allow for a morning out -1st Friday once a month - Please wear suitable footwear for wet and uneven surfaces and clothes appropriate to the Cumbria weather.  A drink and snack is useful as we don’t always end near a café or pub for refreshments.

Everyone welcome, suggested donation £1 per walk towards expenses.   

We will substitute the walk leader if not available, back marker added on the day as needed.  We carry Public Liability Insurance.
